This was a great experience but the days sure were long (some nights I was in surgery until 11pm!). On top of this, about half of the patients spoke French while the other half spoke English. Lucky for me French is my first language. I noticed a trend while I was treating patients. It seems that a lot of Canadian citizens are primarily focused on preventative care (I’d say almost 85%). These people were mostly athletes, or at the very least weekend warriors. To my surprise I actually treated an old friend that I have not seen in at least 10 years! She is now a flight attendant and you can imagine with all that time serving passengers, her feet are very important to her. I’m happy to say I could treat her with a simple injection and now she is feeling great! My time in Montreal also provided me with the opportunity to visit with my family. Unfortunately, on my way back to Savannah it seems that my luggage has gone on a trip of its own! But now that I’m back in Savannah I feel recharged and ready to help the great people of Savannah and the surrounding Lowcountry get back on their feet! There’s no place I’d rather be.
